Burn times for beeswax candles

Wondering which candle to choose?

There are two questions to ask to get the most from your beeswax candles:

  1. How long will I burn the candle each time, that is the time between lighting the candle and when you extinguish it.
  2. What size candle would I like, thats is how many hours would I like the candle to burn in total. (Total burn time).

Why a minimum burn time for candles?

Candles need to burn all the way to the edge each time they are used, that is, the melted pool of wax needs to go to the edge. So, as an example a Tea light needs to burn two hours to have the melted pool of wax get to the edge of the candle. If you do this then all the beeswax is used and the candle doesn't not hollow out in the middle.

The minimum amount of time you want to burn the candle is usually based on your life style. For example, when you go home after work, you may light an candle and burn it until  you go to bed. That is usually 4 hours or more. In this case, you can use any candles, except for the Reflection candle. The reflection candle has a minimum burn time of 7 hours, so that means it would not burn to the edge n 4 hours.

Another example is if you meditate for 15 minutes with a candle burning and then extinguish the candle. The best candle for this would be a taper or candle stick as they don't need a long time to get to the edge of the candle.
