As a new year approaches we traditionally look back, before we look ahead. We ask ourselves how well did we do, as candle makers, spreading the word about beeswax? Have we explained the difference a beeswax candle can make to a family and the environment?
We definitely have sensed an increase in the number of people who understand the problems of other types of candles. Paraffin candles, for example, being a toxic combination of petroleum waste products is becoming well known.
There is, though, more talk about other types of candles and the fragrances that are used. Soy is in the news for the problems of deforestation and the safety of fragrances in the candles is being questioned.
Our passion for beeswax is obvious, we are very vocal about the dangers of using other types of candles for health reasons (a beeswax candle does not create toxic fumes when burnt) and for the environment (beeswax is sustainable).
Palm oil plantations now cover 11 million hectares. The destruction of natural habitats for palm oil is well known.
We hope this helps you understand why we are so passionate about converting as many people to beeswax as possible. More information and thoughts are here.
Choosing beeswax is also a simple way to make more thoughtful choices in our everyday lives. We believe that the things we bring into our homes should be made with care and have a purpose beyond simply looking or smelling good.
Beeswax has been used for centuries, and its natural qualities make it a wonderful material for candle making. Our candles are made to be enjoyed slowly, creating a warm, natural light without the need for unnecessary additives or synthetic fragrances.
As we look towards another year, we hope more people will discover the beauty of beeswax and understand why we continue to choose it. Every candle makes a small difference, and together, those choices can help create healthier homes and a more sustainable future.
